Teacher's Day CelebrationTeachers’ Day is celebrated every year on September 5 to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan who was the first Vice-President and Second President of India and was also a teacher and philosopher. He believed that true teachers are those who help us to think for ourselves; so they should be the best minds of the nation. This day is observed to honour the bond between the students and the teachers who influence their lives in several ways.

The students of Hariharananda Balashram celebrated the Teachers’ Day with religious fervour and gaiety. The celebration started at 7.00 am with general assembly followed by lighting of the lamp by Swami Gurukrupananda Giri, President, Prajnana Mission to mark the inauguration of the celebration. Some of the students presented their speeches highlighting the contribution of teachers in making and shaping their life. The students worshiped the teachers with cleaning their feet with water, putting sandal wood past at their forehead, offering flower on the head and showing lamp as a mark of their reverence for teachers and presented them with greeting cards and gifts as a symbol of their gratitude.

There was a break for the breakfast when the children served delicious food to their teachers with love and humility. The second session started with speech by teachers, vice-principal and principal. All of them highlighted the importance of teachers in educating the children both morally and academically. Swami Anirvananandaji said, “Teachers’ Day is a bridge between the ancient and the modern system of education which reminds us the glory and greatness’ of the teachers”. Swami Gurukrupananda Ma briefed about the life of Poojya Guruji, who is an examplification of a great teacher who has brought thousands people into the path of spirituality.

The students presented a beautiful cultural Guru Bandana programme dedicated to the honourable teachers. The skit presented by the students gave us a message that a teacher is really proud and happy when his students exceel in life and the skit presented by the girls shows the role of teachers in bringing the children back to right path. The melodious bhajans in praise of teachers really touched the heart of all.

Teachers’ Day celebration left a loving impression both in the minds of teachers and students that would surely strengthen the bond between them.
