Hariharananda Balashram was founded on 29th July 2004 by His Holiness Paramahamsa Prajnanananda, whose love for children and education has no bounds. This non-sectarian school is named after his beloved master, Paramahamsa Hariharananda, who educated and cared for many poor children during his life. It’s an English medium CBSE school for socially under-privileged children from rural and tribal areas of Odisha. The school is in the beautiful little village of Arua in Kendrapara District of Odisha, India.
We promote a disciplined, caring and supportive environment for the all-round development of students. We also provide students proper education, life skills and values to face day to day challenges.
Education is a continuous process that can develop the innate perfection in every child. By cultivating the head (intellect), heart (kindness and compassion), and hands (with right activities), every child can become a better human being.
My whole life has been dedicated to serving people. As Hariharananda, I give medicines and services to the sick, food to the hungry, education to children, courage to the depressed and spiritual guidance to those who ask.
Millions of children and families have been devastated by natural disasters, poverty and forced migration in Odisha, one of India's poorest states. After the super-cyclone blasted Odisha's coast in 1999, years of drought, flooding and even more cyclones have left Odisha with thousands of destroyed villages, countless casualties and virtually no social services. Among the living, the surviving children have been hit the hardest, left without basic care or the opportunity for an education. Who will support Odisha's impoverished children, and give them a foundation for the future?
