Paramahamsa Prajnanananda was born as Triloki Dash in Odisha, India. From an early age, Triloki exhibited an extraordinary intellect, a photographic memory, and a profound sense of devotion. Known for his unwavering dedication and kindness, he embodied the spirit of love and service toward his family and community. His spiritual inclination was evident, and as a student, he ardently sought a master who could guide his inner quest. This longing was fulfilled when he encountered his master, Paramahamsa Hariharananda, and was initiated into the sacred path of Kriya Yoga.
Despite his deep spiritual pursuits, Triloki excelled academically, earning a master’s degree in economics. He began his career as a lecturer, teaching economics while simultaneously dedicating himself to serving his master and absorbing his profound teachings. Recognizing his dedication and spiritual growth, Gurudev ordained Triloki as a Yogacharya, authorizing him to teach Kriya Yoga.
In 1994, Triloki embarked on his first journey to the West to assist with his master’s mission of spreading the teachings of Kriya Yoga. A year later, in 1995, Paramahamsa Hariharananda initiated him into the path of sannyasa, conferring upon him the monastic name Swami Prajnanananda Giri. As a devoted disciple, he expanded his master’s work by traveling extensively and establishing ashrams and meditation centers worldwide, thereby creating spaces for seekers to practice and experience the transformative power of Kriya Yoga.
Paramahamsa Prajnanananda’s contributions extend beyond teaching meditation. A prolific scholar and speaker, he has authored and translated over 200 books on various spiritual subjects, skillfully bridging the wisdom of ancient scriptures with modern scientific and technological perspectives. His ability to elucidate profound spiritual truths in clear and accessible language has inspired countless seekers around the globe. Notably, in 1999, he became the third Indian monk to address the Parliament of the World’s Religions, sharing insights that emphasized unity, compassion, and spiritual growth.
An essential part of his teachings includes the practice of “sadhana” (spiritual discipline) balanced with “seva” (selfless service). Since 1991, through Prajnana Mission, the organization established by his Gurudev, Paramahamsa Prajnanananda has spearheaded numerous humanitarian initiatives. These projects include value-based education, healthcare services, and social outreach programs designed to uplift the poor and underserved communities. His dedication to sustainable practices has led to eco-friendly projects such as the rejuvenation of the Prachi River and Go Seva, aimed at conserving and nurturing indigenous breeds of Indian cows.
Paramahamsa Prajnanananda is revered as a distinguished and exemplary spiritual guide among India’s saints and sages. Through his unwavering humility, he has carried forward the mission of his master, devoting his life to the service of humanity and fostering spiritual growth worldwide. His teachings and compassionate leadership continue to inspire countless individuals on their path to self-realization and inner peace.
